This post is a follow-up to the post-dinner coffee chat last Saturday (while Brigs and Erin were visiting). It has to do with the concept that one man should expect realistically to be able to do/be it all. (We were talking about trying to be both a planer and executor, I believe.)
Brien had a follow-up thought and case study: "Great composers, such as Mozart, didn't know how to play every instrument in the orchestra."
Could he have learned? Sure! Could he have played 1/2 as well as any of the…

Does it conflict...it depends!
I think that the motivation behind, and attitude toward, the goals is what determines whether or not goal setting conflicts with simply following God.
The Motivation Behind:
When goal-setting stems from a person's desire to control (self or world around them) or fosters a false sense of self-sufficiency, then I believe that goal-setting can be contrary to just simply following God.
The Attitude Toward:
When goal-setting is elevated…

Background:
Last week in church we were singing a song that was pretty and all...but I couldn't connect with the lyrics. I didn't understand them ONE BIT...and that bothered me.
The song was "I Am a Friend of God." I have provided a the lyrics and a link to a YouTube video below.
The chorus is "I am a friend of God", and it is repeated over and over again. While singing that part especially, I was really confused! I know I am my Father's daughter. I know that I am a Queen. But His frien…

I was reading my bible this a.m. and came across a blurb in my study bible that really grabbed me. It is biblical principles, but I also believe they are applicable to business. They are now part of my personal spiritual and business/ethical mission statement.
From my study bible (related to 2 Timothy 4:3):
Sound doctrine is the eternal, unchanging truth about God and the gospel. Doctrine that merely scratches "itching ears" cares nothing for the truth; its concern is that it sound good…

I'm currently chewing on the concept of
consecration. I'm seeking to understand what it means, and looks like, to consecrate my life and self daily.
My study bible says that consecration is "to set aside or dedicate for God's use."
The bible tells of both people and objects being consecrated. Sometimes the ritual includes using oil, washing (of self and of clothes), and/or abstaining from sexual relations.
I still don't understand what consecration looks like DAILY.
Oswald Cham…

Between some amazing discussion with friends last night and my daily devotional reading today, I came across a concept that just "clicked" for me and I felt compelled to share/process...
Sanctification!
I've heard the word and have had a fuzzy idea of what the concept means, but had a bit of an "Aha!" moment just now - and it makes my heart want to SING!
What Does Sanctification Mean to Us?
The process of sanctification is a gift that is available to us through the will of God, but that we hav…

This is a "thing" that people are doing on FaceBook. It's a neat way to learn something about people! I thought I would also post my response here.
25 Random Things You May or May Not Know About Me
1. By the time I get to 25 things on this list, I will not be able to stop, so there will be more! (Nobody can limit my idea generation…it’s not humanly possible!)
2. Music is the language of my heart. It is the key to my memories as well.
3. I used to own and ride a motorcycle (and want to…

Today I was reading my Oswald Chambers entry for the day and had a total a-ha moment! (Not the Norwegian group from the 80's...a moment of clarity!)
The scripture referenced today was:
"Turn to me and be saved"
~ Isaiah 45:22
Chambers talks about how that is all we need do to be saved: turn to Him. The scripture doesn't say "Turn to me and you will begin to be saved." Nope...you turn and you are saved. As my mentor says, "It is settled!"
My mind's response was "It is that simple?!" My heart…

Running out the door but wanted to capture this thought.
Lately I have been feeling like I am not "working on myself" as much as I "could be." I'm not reading, highlighting, journaling...
Instead, I am seeing things clearly that I have never seen clearly before in my thoughts, beliefs, and actions.
It hit me today that I am in a season of recognition. I've been in seasons like this several times since I accepted Christ into my heart.
These seasons usually serve to drive home sometimes painfu…

This is a place holder to remind me to blog about this season of reconnecting that I am in.
I find myself, through FaceBook, reconnecting with people from my past. People from seasons of my life that I would typically just as soon forget because I associate them with perceived negative relationships.
What I am learning is that my past is my past. My memories are my memories. And that just because one aspect of my life (or more) may have negative memories or connotations, there are redeemable m…

I read the November 22nd entry in My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers the other day and it blew my mind.
The scripture it is based on is :
"Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31)
Chambers starts off by saying:
"Beware of allowing yourself to think that the shallow aspects of life are not ordained by God; they are ordained by Him equally as much as the profound. We sometimes refuse to be shallow, not out of our deep devotion to…

Well...I'm changing up my diet again for the second time in my journey towards health. My doc holds firm that if he could only do ONE thing for patients, it would be to change their diets dramatically to healthier foods (with the diet they recommend).
I should say up front that this Blog is to allow me to:
A) Process what I am learning about the eating plan, and
B) Solicit feedback and info from whoever reads this! I love and welcome thoughts and comments.

I'm sure it's been done somewhere before, but I "made this up" when I started my special diet this past January. Thought I would share!
It is made with Stevia (won't cause blood sugar spikes and doesn't have the same negative impact on the immune system as sugar) and rice milk (less aggravating for your tummy/system, especially if you are sensitive to dairy and don't want to increase soy intake).
Make a cup of decaf chai tea (I like Celestial Seasonings' tea)...good and hot.
Mix in stevia to t…

For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
it speaks of the end
and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
it will certainly come and will not delay
~ Habakkuk 2:3
This passage is one that the Lord put on my dear friend's heart when I called her to process a seemingly divine opportunity presented to me over the course of the past month.
My heart was torn, because the opportunity seemed to be divinely dropped in my lap at the "perfect" time, yet my heart and intuition both were…

What could be more fun to talk about than the subject of digestion?! Okay...it's not the most "whee-fun" topic out there...I know!!!!
Many of the conditions with which I have been diagnosed all have the high likelihood of resulting in poor digestion (chronic mono infection, hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue, systemic candida infection). Since January of this year, I have been eating a crazy modified diet (suggested by Dr. Colbert in Orlando) designed to reduce irritants and heal my stomach lining…

Total Health Breakthroughs is an e-newsletter that is offered through the Early to Rise team. I find it to be filled with practical information that does not feel like it is "pushed" by the drug-companies. They cover both mainstream and traditional treatments...a good presentation of all options. (Check it out here: http://www.totalhealthbreakthroughs.com/)
This article caught my eye because it speaks to the new path that I am on in recovering my health. Not so much because I am considering acu…
