I Am A Friend of God?!?!?!

Background:
Last week in church we were singing a song that was pretty and all...but I couldn't connect with the lyrics. I didn't understand them ONE BIT...and that bothered me.

The song was "I Am a Friend of God." I have provided a the lyrics and a link to a YouTube video below.

The chorus is "I am a friend of God", and it is repeated over and over again. While singing that part especially, I was really confused! I know I am my Father's daughter. I know that I am a Queen. But His friend?!?! New concept!!! What does it MEAN?!

Aha! Now I'm getting it...!
Today I was reading my bible and found scripture that helps me to understand and I am SO EXCITED!!!

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
